Degenerate Day is an all day excuse for friends, sports, and gambling.

We created Degenerate Day because of all the holidays out there, not one was dedicated to the best times and the best friends of your life.

Degenerate Day is not just annual event to celebrate with your "Boys", "Posse", “Squad” or "Entourage", it is a celebration of the people you don’t get to see enough. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say, “I’d love to get together more.” This day is a symbol of making that group of a people a priority!

My Degenerate Day includes family and friends from grade school, high school, college, and the neighborhood. Our day, is the first Friday of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tourney, and our rules are simple. We start at 6:00 am, end at midnight and have as much fun as possible in between.

C'mon in and check out some of the activities we do and checkout some suggestions for setting up your own Degenerate Day or other activities to keep your friends close.

Host your own Degenerate Day!

Hosting a Degenerate Day event is easy. It turns sports betting into a social event through consensus betting. You and your friends pool your money and place bets as a single team. You win together and lose together. There are no rules around how much you have to bet, pick something tht works for your risk tolerance. The shared model distributes the risk and minimizes losses so that you can focus on the main purpose of the event: hanging out all day with your friends.

Rally your friends

Invite friends that share your passion for sports. Remember, Degenerate Day is a social event more then a betting event and works best with 5-20 people.

Pick your host

Your friend with the awesome man cave? Yeah, tell them they are hosting. Degenerate Day is best if everyone can fit in the same room. It is also best if you have more than one tv since multiple games will be on at a time. Plan accordingly.

Choose your bookies

It generally works best to not have everyone firing off bets in their accounts. It becomes difficult manage and audit at the end. Pick one or two people to be the bet placers and make sure they have enough funds in their account prior to the event.

Make a Bet Board

It could be poster board, it could be a markert board, or if your fancy it could be a spreadsheet displaying on a TV. Whatever you choose, have a place to present the bets placed and whether they hit or missed for all to see.

Lets Go!

Pick a morning event that involve sports or gambling. It could be heading to the local casino. It could be grabbing the first tee time at the local golf course. Whatever it is, embrace the day and dont skip this step!

Consensus Betting

Degenerate Day betting is done as squad. All wagers, winnings, and losses are shared. Pick your bets and place them through designated bookie. Record the bets on the bet board! At the end of the day use the bet board to talley up total winnings (or losses). The designated bookies are in charge of paying the rest of the squad their share (or collecting!).

Have Fun!

Order food or make food. Drink or dont drink. You do you. Degenerate Day is a social event so however you have fun with your friends, do it! Hang out and enjoy the day.

Think outside the box

Don't limit yourself to March Madness games. Betting on any basketball, hockey, soccer, or other games is encouraged. Embrace the day and think out side the box, bet on that World Ping Pong Championship match.

Share the day

Have any questions??

The idea of consensus betting is to have a group of people bet as a team or a squad. All bets for the day are placed as one and you share any winnings or losses. It turns betting into a team sport and you and your squad will share the ups, downs, and thrills.

More than one, because its not much of a squad if you are by yourself! We recommend keeping the number under 20 as well because as the number gets bigger it will be harder to agree on concensus on bets. When the day gets going and you have tip offs every 20 minutes you'll find that you need to make decisions quickly!

Really the only rule is concensus betting. There are no rules around the mount of people, how much to bet, how often to bet, etc. We do recommend creating rules for yourself in this regard.

We generally set rules for ourselves to place at least 2 bets on every game, one pre game and one in game. Although we do recommend it, this is not a hard rule.

As for amount to bet, pick what works for your squads risk tolerance. We generally pick two amounts, one for bets we like and one for bets we love. Squad consensus dictates which category bets fall into. As an example, say you have a squad of 10 people and you say bets you like will cost 5 dollars each and bets you love will cost 10 dollars each. That means each wager for the day will either be 50 or 100 dollars for the squad.
